Beginning of the end

The recent series played between South Africa and Australia has given birth to a new champion. For last two decades Australia has sustained its dominance in both forms of the game and fashioned so many great players. Despite the change of captains Aussies ensured that they are the influential in the game of cricket. Allan Border, Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting, under the captaincy of these players Australia unruffled lots of victories including four world cup victories in its bucket. Especially in the last two world cups Australia didn’t loose even a single match. Australia’s series defeat with a margin of 4-1 against South Africa is really wearisome for their management including the captain Ricky Ponting. The way South African bowlers dismantled Australian top order in almost every match is simply a very rare thing to happen. This year Pakistan was unable to play a single test match and only managed to participate in ODIs. Bulk of the matches out of the total ODIs which Pakistan played this year were against the weak oppositions with the likes of Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and West Indies. Things look good for Pakistan as far as winning ratio is concerned and that was exactly being claimed by Jeoff Lawson about this performance as Pakistan Coach. But the analytical view presents an entirely different picture for us. Lets just analyze the matches which Pakistan played against the oppositions other than Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and West Indies. These two teams are Srilanka and India. Pakistan played only a single match agains...
