Sense of complacency

Once again Pakistan has come out triumphant against a weaker opposition, as we witnessed 3 ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies in Abu Dhabi. Pakistan is starving of playing international games both tests and ODIs rite after the series against india, that Pakistan played last year in India.

This year Pakistan was unable to play a single test match and only managed to participate in ODIs. Bulk of the matches out of the total ODIs which Pakistan played this year were against the weak oppositions with the likes of Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and West Indies. Things look good for Pakistan as far as winning ratio is concerned and that was exactly being claimed by Jeoff Lawson about this performance as Pakistan Coach. But the analytical view presents an entirely different picture for us.

Lets just analyze the matches which Pakistan played against the oppositions other than Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and West Indies. These two teams are Srilanka and India. Pakistan played only a single match against Srilanka and they suffered a sizeable defeat against them, against india, four matches were played and out of four ODIs Pakistan won two matches and lost as many matches. So the final tally shows out five matches Pakistan won two and lost three. You can better analyze the performance of Pakistan with this analysis easily.

If we draw our attention to other teams like Australia, India, England, South Africa and New Zealand, they are continuously playing but Pakistan is suffering with the dearth. The role of the previous PCB management is also very significant here, as they stuck their selves to convince the countries on playing at Pakistan but the growing security concerns never gave the chance to any country to think over this.
The situation is unnerving for us, but thanks to the soft stance taken by new PCB management, they are now thinking on the idea “Cricket must go on”, so this year we should expect that nobody will cancel their series against Pakistan.
